Maligaon, August 21: It has been decided to restore the much awaited Narrow Gauge train services between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the World Heritage Darjeeling Himalayan Railway with effect from 25th August, 21.
Tourist and passengers will now be able to enjoy the services of the narrow gauge trains from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling and Darjeeling to New Jalpaiguri by travelling through the hills of the Himalayas having enchantic views.
Narrow Gauge train number 52541 will leave from New Jalpaiguri and train number 52540 will leave from Darjeeling. Detail timings are being notified. There will be 17 seats in the first class and 29 seats in the general class for passengers.
With the introduction of these services, tourism and hospitality sectors of the area are expected to get benefitted; thereby helping the local economy. Passengers will have to observe all preventive measures and guidelines related to Covid-19 during the journey.
