Maligaon, August 25: The Northeast Frontier Railway has brought in several initiatives to attract more business towards freight transportation sectors. Introduction of Kisan Rail is one such initiative.
Officials of Northeast Frontier Railway and Tripura State government organised road shows or seminars with local traders at various railway locations in the state of Tripura to inform them about the various new schemes launched by railways for transportation of commodities.
These road shows or seminars were organised aiming to help small scale farmers and traders of these areas and to boost the local economy. The road shows and seminars were conducted in Ambassa and Kumarghat on 24th August, 2021.
Twenty nos. participant merchants, exporters were present at Ambassa. Area Manager of Badarpur Shri D. K. Murmu, Assistant Operations Manager (Goods) Shri Dipankar Gogoi of Lumding and Shri Debendra Debbarma, General Manager, District Industrial Council from the Government of Tripura were also present.
Earlier also, such road shows and seminars were conducted in Udaipur and Agartala on 17th August, Sabroom and Belonia on 19th August, 2021. During the discussion, booking process of goods for transportation through freight and parcel trains, various concession and discounts being provided by railways in loading/unloading were thoroughly explained to local traders.
Such interactive sessions are likely to help farmers and traders in transporting their produces to major cities in cheaper and eco-friendly way with reasonably lesser freight charges and to get better market prices. Such seminars will be planned at various other locations in the future also.
