Khliehriat, Nov 11: As part of the Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Programme “Azadi Ka AmritMohotsav” under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in collaboration with theDistrict Administration, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat today.
Its organized also a Mega Camp cum Free Medical Camp at Iapmala Presbyterian L.P School, Iapmala Village, East Jaintia Hills District.The Programme was attended by the Shri. E. Kharmalki, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat.
Smt. C. Dkhar, District and Session Judge Cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, Shri. S.S Syiemlieh,MCS Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri T Shylla, Block Development Officer, Khliehriat C&RD Block,District Officials and Members of the Khliehriat Bar Association among others.
The Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri. E. Kharmalki, IAS, in his speech said that there needs to be a consistent effort for the speedy and smooth implementation and execution of government welfare schemes by the various departments of the District for the benefit of the public.
“The Mega Camp is one programme that is conducted with the objective of exhibiting and displaying the various welfare and developmental schemes implemented by the Government thatthe citizens can avail, basedon the eligibility and criteriarequiredas per the guidelines of the Government”, he said.
Speaking on Covid -19 Vaccination Drive, he urged the people present at the gathering to take the vaccination drive seriously and get vaccinated against the virus as it is the only way to protect everyone and prevent further spread of Covid-19 infections in the future.
Smt. C. Dkhar, District and Session Judge Cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, informed the gathering that the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA).
The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority(MSLSA) and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) aims to provide “Equal justice and Free Legal Aid” as is etched in the Indian Constitution under Article 39 especially for those who belong to weaker and marginalized sections of the society.
She also said that under the Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Programme, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has been visiting people in different villages to ensure that every citizen get access to justice.
The District and Session Judge Cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority said that many programmes have been organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) with the objectivetoprovide free legal services which is free of cost to the poor and needy who cannot afford the services of a lawyer for the conduct of a case or legal proceedings.
She also informed that the DLSA is also monitoring the implementationof government welfare schemes so as to ensure that the services and benefits reach the beneficiaries at a faster pace.
The Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District,Shri. E. Kharmalki, IAS, handed over Work Ordersto the functionaries of Iapmala VEC, Suchen Rim VEC and SuchenDhana VECfor the implementation of projects under MGNREGA Scheme which falls under Khliehriat C& RD Block.
Work orders were also handed over by the District and Session Judge, East Jaintia Hills District, Smt. C. Dkharto 19 beneficiaries of PMAY-G Scheme belonging to Iapmala and Lumshken Village. Relief funds were also distributed to the victims of Natural Calamities in the District.
Among others who also spoke during the programme include Smt. N. Momin, Chief Judicial Magistrate Cum Secretary District Legal Services Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, Smt. B. Kharbithai, Judicial Magistrate First Class, Dr. Dominic Shylla, DM&HO East Jaintia Hills, Khliehriat and Shri. S. Pdang, Public Prosecutor, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat.
During the daylong Mega Camp, the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khleihriat conducted a free medical camp that included medical facilities such as free medical check up, Covid-19 Vaccination.
During the day MHIS Registration, Immunization,OBG-GY for women and Children and Counselling etc.It may be mentioned that 553 number of people benefited from the Health Camp and 77 number of people got themselvesvaccinated against Covid-19 virus.
Stalls were also set up for exhibition of schemes and services provided by various departments of the District which includes the District Legal Services Authority, Khliehriat, Election Department, Education Department, National Informatics Centre(NIC).
Water Resource Department, Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Office of the District Agriculture Officer, Office of the District Horticulture Officer, Office of the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Office of the Superintendent of Fisheries among others.
