Shillong, Dec 15: With an aim to celebrate the season of joy and also to provide awareness regarding Covid vaccination, Martin Luther Christian University today organised an event at Umkdait Nongmynsong.
The event saw a participation of students from across three different departments, Department of Music, School of Social Work and Department of Allied Health Sciences.
The event was held in collaboration with the office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Khasi Hills. Christmas carols and hymns were performed by the Department of Music, MLCU which were joined by children of the locality.
The School of Social Work performed a street play to create awareness on the importance of Covid vaccination, while the students of Department of Allied Health Sciences displayed posters for the importance of Covid Vaccination.
Speaking on the occasion the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. T K Kharbamon encouraged the residents and shopkeepers of the area to listen and pay attention to the different aspects of the event as it has been prepared solely for their benefit. She further added that this event is just a small gesture from the university to bring in some much needed Christmas cheer during these difficult times.
The Christmas message was also shared by one of the faculty of the School of Social Work, Dr.Nandaris Marwein, in which she reminded the spirit of Christmas and how it is not meant only for the good and the well-to-do groups of society but it is a time to open our hearts to those in need of our help.
