Shillong, Jan 08: Following the footsteps of the mega-successful WE Card campaign, Meghalaya Trinamool Congress’s second revolutionary initiative the Meghalaya Youth Empowerment (MYE) Scheme – has received an exceptional response with over 12,000 people signing up for the scheme within two days of kickstarting the registrations.
On January 5, Meghalaya TMC launched the unique MYE scheme that promises 3 lakh jobs in the next five years and monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,000 for the unemployed youth of the state.
“Outstanding response, Ii less than 48 hours of its launch, more than 10,000+ Youth have registered for TMC MYE Card. We promise to keep striving for the welfare of the youth,” the party said in a tweet on Sunday.
“While MDA Govt neglected the youth , we shall uplift them! Our MYE Card assures – Creation of 3 Lakh jobs over the next 5 years and Allowance of Rs. 1,000 monthly (Rs. 12,000 yearly) to unemployed youth between the ages of 21-40 years,” the party tweeted.
Every unemployed youth, who is between the ages of 21-40 years and is a native of Meghalaya, can register for the unemployment allowance scheme. The registered youth will receive a unique ID-enabled MYE Card which will serve as an assured guarantee for the scheme. People can also opt for online registration through the website www.tmcmyecard.com and receive the digital version of their MYE Card upon completion of registration.
While launching the campaign on Thursday, the party emphasized the MDA government’s failure in creating job opportunities or generating employment which had caused 37% of the youth to be excluded from the active worker population of the state. This directly impacts families as Meghalaya has the highest dependency ratio (65.9) in the country.
