Shillong, May 01: Meghalaya State Rural Livelihood Society (MSRLS) the Nodal Agency under the Department of Community and Rural Development (C&RD) for implementation of the National Rural Livelihood Mission today the 1st of May 2023 launched the Social Mobilization Campaign “Sangathan Se Samriddhi” as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava 2.0 (AKAM) nationwide movement at the Main Conference Hall, Secretariat, Shillong.
This campaign aims to accelerate the pace of saturation drive and mobilize all left out eligible households into the Self-Help Group (SHG) fold as well as reviving those groups who are inactive.
Further, it also seeks to ensure all eligible women from the Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAY-G) and MGNREGA scheme beneficiary households are brought into the SHG Movement.
The programme was chaired by the Principal Secretary, Community and Rural Development Dept. Shri. Sampath Kumar (IAS), Co-Chaired by Ch Ramakhrishna (IAS), CEO MSRLS and attended by other dignitaries from various Line Departments, NABARD, Banks and NGOs.
Deputy Commissioners, Project Directors and Block Development Officers and MSRLS Functionaries attended the program online from their respective Districts and Blocks.
The Principal Secretary impressed upon the fact that the SHG Movement is a strong mechanism, and they should leverage this to bring about socio-economic improvements in the rural community.
The campaign is a three-month long programme initiated from the 18th April to 30th June 2023 under the aegis of the Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India.
Till date, 44000 SHGs has been formed in the State of Meghalaya covering 90% of the eligible rural household, and through this campaigned the MSRLS intends to form an additional 4889 SHGs by mobilizing the left-out household which have been mapped across all the 12 Districts.
