Shillong, May 08: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council today has sent representation to the Prof. A. S. Dixit Registrar NEHU, urging him to reconsider the application of Dr Natalie Jo-Anne Diengdoh belonging to the Scheduled Tribe Community (Khasi) applied for the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication by fulfilling all the criteria as required.
In the letter the HYC mention that with Ref: Employment Notice No F.No.1-4/Estt.II(B)/2021-379 Dated 16th March 2022 Sub: Lapses in screening procedure by the Screening Committee. Sir, With reference to the above mentioned Employment Notice No F.No.1-4/Estt.II(B)/2021-379 Dated 16th March 2022
In the letter the general secretary of the HYC Mr. Roykupar Synrem mention that, it has come to their knowledge and attention that a female candidate, Dr Natalie Jo-Anne Diengdoh belonging to the Scheduled Tribe Community (Khasi) applied for the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication on 15.04.2022 at IST:11:59:17 online and thereafter submitted attested hardcopies of all her certificates at Establishment II on 16.04.2022.
She again submitted the updated attested hardcopies of her certificates at Establishment II on 3rd of January 2023, On the 14th of April 2023 her application was rejected by the screening committee. She was given Zero (0) marks without any remarks for all criteria although she possesses the following, Doctor of Philosophy in Folkloristics, Thesis entitled Representations of Ka Niam Khasi in Mass Media from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, 2015.
Masters of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication, Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technical Science, Shillong, 2008, B Div 64% 4. National Eligibility Test (Journalism and Mass Communication), University Grants Commission, 2012, Teaching since 2013, Currently an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Shillong.
She has Authored and published – 4 books in the Khasi language and 2 in English language. 4 peer reviewed papers in Journals, 3 Chapter contributions in books, Souvenirs and others 8. Presented papers at 8 International Seminars and Conferences, 22 National Seminars.
She has Attended 6 workshops and 4 programmes So far she has sent three representations: On the 19th of April 2023 two representations have been successfully submitted at the portal to plead her case. The third representation was sent on the 1st of May 2023 to you at regtroffice@nehu.ac.in and cc to ST Cell at ampassah95@rediffmail.com.
Till date there has been no response to her numerous pleas; hence the HYC request that her case be considered as she bears the necessary requirements. She has contributed tremendously to the state through her efforts in cultural conservation in various platforms like books, documentary films, radio productions, paper publications and so on. It may be added that the evidence of some of her work are available on the internet and YouTube links and at her page as provided.
The HYC stated that since she was highly qualified applicants with vast experience are available from the Khasi Jaintia Community, we see no reason why they should be deprived of this opportunity to serve the university. It is also understood that so far the department is run by Assistant Professors belonging to other communities only.
The HYC requested the Registrar to intervene and reconsidered her application by referring to the attested hard copies of her credentials submitted at Establishment II. It would be appreciated if the university takes up this case seriously and ensure that justice is done to the deserving member of one of the indigenous communities of the state of Meghalaya.
