Shillong, Sept 30: The president of the CSWO Smti Agnes Kharshiing today write to the Director General of Police government of Meghalaya saying that the CBI Complaints on the Corruption of Central Government Schemes in Meghalaya, and request to make public the names, and action taken.
The CSWO want to know from the DGP what action has been taken from the Police Department on the letters sent by the CBI, the organisation want that the name of the bureaucrat and politician should be made public
The letter sent by the CSWO read “ With reference to the above, we would like to inform you that we have received information that there were some bureaucrats who have been depositing huge sums of money in certain banks, and it has come to the notice of the CBI through the FIU (Financial Investigation Unit).
The CSWO, has managed to visit the CBI, Headquarters at New Delhi and confirmed that, there are letters sent to the DGP, Meghalaya and the Chief Secretary of the State of Meghalaya, requesting to investigate on the many corruption cases against certain bureaucrats, and politicians, concerning the various central schemes, in the State.
The Organizations expresses deep concern, at the rise of corruption in the State and the inaction of the Police at the various scams reported in the State, and the CSWO is shocked, that no action so far has been taken by the two highest echelons of the State, that is the office of the Chief Secretary and the office of the DGP of the State of Meghalaya, in spite of being alerted of the corruption.
We are definite that you will agree that the laws are equal to everyone and you may also be aware that the police should take cognizance of crimes reported under the Prevention of Corruption Act and corruption is indeed a crime and under section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, a public servant can be booked for criminal misconduct if they are habitually corrupting, and the public know it is your bounded duty to seek permission to investigate, especially when your office is informed of such crimes and, it is also your duty to inform the Government if the Chief Secretary is not responding to such complaints.
Therefore in the interest of the public at large we would like to request you to kindly make public the whereabouts of the letters and the names of the IAS, and other public servants whose names have reflected in the letter, and what action has been taken so far, as this involves corruption of Central schemes where public fund is involved and CBI should be allowed to investigate, if the State takes time to investigate.
