Shillong, Oct 05: The District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District observed the International Day of Older Persons 2023 at a function held at Neng Gate Community Hall, Pynursla, on 4th October, 2023. The theme for the celebration is “Fulfilling the Promises of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for Older Persons: Across Generations.”
The programme was attended by Smti E. Warjri, Sub-Divisional Officer, Pynursla Civil Sub Division, Pynursla as the Chief Guest in the presence of Smti E. Kharchandy, District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills District, officials from the Office of the District Medical and Health Officer, East Khasi Hills District, District Child Protection Officer and senior citizens of Pynursla areas.
The highlights of the day are lectures on the subjects “Matters related with health issues concerning the Senior Citizens” and “Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007”, free Medical & Health Check Up Camp for senior citizens and distribution of gifts to all senior citizens who attended the programme.
The High Court of Meghalaya and Meghalaya State Judicial Academy in collaboration with Meghalaya Police conducted a Workshop on “Strengthening Police Investigation and Prosecution” on 5th October, 2023 at the Auditorium of the High Court of Meghalaya.
Topics on “Role of Police in criminal justice system”, “Investigation procedures under the Code of Criminal Procedure and other acts, statutes” and “Directions and guidelines to be followed by investigating agencies as per judgments of Supreme Court and High Courts” were deliberated during the day-long workshop. As part of the workshop Panel Discussions on various related topics were also held.
The workshop also saw the participation of Justice Sanjib Banerjee, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya in which he interacted with the various stakeholders present in the workshop.
