Shillong, Feb 29: Meghalaya Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma today call for a review meeting in his office chamber on the law and order situation, in the meeting the additional chief secretary incharge home, the Director General of Police, the Superintendent of Police, Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District and official of the political and home department were present.
In the meeting the Chief Minister was inform that base on the FIR lodge by the Khasi Students Union, eight people have been arrested in connection with the incident at ichamati on the 28th Feb 2020. Case has been file against this eight individual, this was prompt action taken by the police of East Khasi Hills.
Apart from that different measure has been taken last light when overall situation have been observed, the Chief Minister also said that the force from the central also partially have been arrived.
The Chief Minister said that tension is still in the city is there, and base on that they have continued to have curfew in some part of the city and in different parts of the District also and at the same time internet blocked is still continuing.
The Chief Minister said that tension is there and he appeal to all the citizens of the state and the people of East Khasi hills particularly and different organisation that we must ensure that peace come back.
The chief minister appeal that all should refrain from any violence activity and at the same time the chief minister express the solidarity with the people and the family of the diseased.
The chief Minister said that the government has decided to gave ex-gratia of two lack rupees to the next of kin of the diseased, the magisterial inquiry has been set up and the report will be submitted very soon and at the same time that the man power is strengthen in the Sohra Civil Sub Division and man power from the central government will be reaching by today evening and hope will have sufficient man power.
