Shillong, August 9: Air Vice Marshal B Chandra Sekhar took over as Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration (SOA) of Eastern Air Command (EAC) of Indian Air Force (IAF) on 08 August 2019. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned as a Helicopter Pilot in IAF on 21 December 1984.
In a career spanning over 34 years of service, the Air Officer has flown most variants of helicopters in the IAF inventory and has over 5400 hours of flying to his credit. He has vast experience of VVIP/VIP operations and high altitude operations. The Air Officer has held many Command, Instructional and Staff appointments.
His important assignments include Flight Commander of the first Mi 171V unit, Chief Operational Officer of a forward base during Op Parakram and Command of Helicopter unit in India, a Helicopter Unit in the UN Peace Keeping Mission in Sudan, high altitude base in the North and Advance HQ, EAC. He also tenated the appointments of Ops IIB in the Eastern Sector, Principal Director (Administration) in Strategic Forces Command. Prior to taking over as SOA of EAC, the Air Officer was Senior Officer in charge Administration, Southern Air Command.
He is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has held instructional appointments at Air Force Academy, Helicopter Training School, College of Air Warfare and College of Defence Management. He is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College, College of Defence Management and National Defence College. The Air Officer is pursuing his Ph D in management. His interests include Reading, Graphology and Travel.
