Shillong, May 18: Union Minister of State for the Ministries of Chemicals and Fertilizers and New & Renewable Energy Shri Bhagwanth Khuba today visited Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills District in Meghalaya and reviewed the status of progress of central government schemes in the State.
The Minister reviewed the implementation of the schemes and met the representatives of all the departments and district administration. “Today I reviewed the implementation of schemes of all the departments and district administration,” he said adding that he is happy with the implementations of the government-aided schemes. He also said that there are some concerns and that discussions have been done to tackle the challenges.
Highlighting the PM KUSUM, Rooftop Solar Schemes, Shri Khuba informed that more subsidies are available for the Northeastern States. “The KUSUM rooftop scheme is all over India. We are providing more subsidies here to the NE States. All schemes pertaining to NE region are always given priority, more subsidies are provided to benefit the people. I urge the district administration to take more benefits from MNRE schemes,” he said during his address at Nongstoin.
The Minister also held a meeting with the locals and Headmen here who informed about the various challenges. Shri Khuba assured that every possible measure will be taken to address their challenges.
While addressing the media here, the Minister reiterated the central government’s focus and priority in developing the NE region across different sectors – infrastructure development like National Highways, road connectivity in villages, good quality drinking water through taps and many more.
“Now in a span of nine years, NE has emerged as equal to other developed States of the country”. The Minister said that the government has ensured that Union Ministers visit the northeastern states every fortnight to ensure speedy implementation of the Centre’s social and economic programmes.
The Minister post his review meeting also visited Mawkawah Anganwadi Centre, Sibsingh Memorial Govt School Nongpyndeng and Mawlieh Sub-centre (Health & Wellness Centre) today.
He interacted with the beneficiaries of the central government schemes, including the PM AWAS Yojana and found that there has been proper implementation of the welfare schemes. He exhorted the district officials to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries get the benefits of the same.
