Shillong, Feb 4: A day after the name of the faction group of Achik National Volunteer Council the ANVC-B came in the news for having responsible in the Williamnagar Jail attack, the ANVC stated that the name has been dragged by some vested interests.
In a press statement issued here on Monday, Rimpu N Marak of the (ANVC-B) denied the accusation by stating that its outfit has got no connection with the recent attack.
It was also stated that Williamnagar is GNLA C-i-C Sohan D Shira’s strong hold and its influence in that area is not much, so accusing ANVC(B) seems more like a cover up statement to target its cadres and to derail the peaceful initiative.
Further it was also mentioned that how would ANVC be responsible for the attack as some of the members who were arrested for disrupting Deborah Marak meeting got bail after following due legal process and on that particular day they were on their way to meet ANVC(B) commander-in-chief and have not assume command yet
Besides, Marak said that the ANVC(B) who were arrested and release had been tortured and threatened while they were in custody, however, they do not pose any threat to anybody now.
Marak also underscored the ANVC (B) effort of trying to bridge understanding with other communities of the state and dragging its name without evidence will jeopardize the entire process.
Meanwhile, the ANVC (B) also welcome Meghalaya DGP Kulbir Kishan’s statement to institute an in depth inquiry into the jail attack before coming to any sort of conclusion.(SP News)
