Shillong, May 14: The Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Mr Metbah Lyngdoh said that at the All Party Meeting that was held today after the discussion and action taken from the Government along with the suggestion made from the Members with one voice they have decided that they will fight together against COVID-19.
Addressing the media after the All Party Meeting, that the discussion was very fruitful, from the Government has inform on the action taken in combating COVID-19 and they have also lot of discussion and suggestion where the Government has taken not of it and in the meeting they have decided to fight together this war against COVID-19.
The Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma said that calling this meeting again is that the most important message is that all the legislature, the ruling and the opposition are fight against this COVID-19. In this meeting there are very good suggestion that were given, this will help government official to improve entire operation to fight against this war on COVID-19.
The Chief Minister thank the Speaker for calling this meeting and the leader of the opposition which allowed the Government to explain on the step taken from the government and also the suggestion made by the members how to improved the work to be carried on.
The leader of the opposition Dr Mukul Sangma who also address the media along with the Speaker and the Chief Minister said that there are two things; one is the technicality part and other matter how to put in place. Though Meghalaya have few cases and hope that the state will remain from COVID-19.
Dr Mukul said that the fact is that, keeping in mind what has happen across the globe and the pandemic to the virus is very infectious and the whole scientific community is working overt time to have the vaccine in place, till then it need to ensure whatever achieved as a state along with the collective endeavour of the people is really taking millage of all to keep the state free from this virus.
The leader of the opposition said that now the stranded citizens in others state are now retuning home, there is a need for the government to really that all of them are screen properly to ensure that any chance of our citizens retuning have contact the virus is given the kind of attention as per the protocol.
Dr Mukul mention that the most important thing is that the protocol given from ICMR is consider as a minimum SOP, over and above that we want the Meghalaya to be free from infection, what more measure, is the issue of advisory and the issue of testing at the time of entering by using Rapid Diagnostic Test.
The important of this test will enable to know whether the virus is coming along with our citizens and if we know then we know how to fight and if we don’t know then will not know how to fight. The most important thing if anybody contact with the virus are the others measure are enough to detect such citizens who are returning to the state.
The others members who are in the all party meeting are Deputy Chief Minister Mr Prestone Tynsong, Health Minister Mr AL Hek, Home Minister Mr Lahkmen Rymbui, Power Minister Mr James K Sangma.
The members from the opposition are Mr HM Shangpliang, Mr Zenith Sangma, Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh, Mr M Syiem, the Chief Secretary Mr MS Rao, and others government official were also present in the all party meeting held today at the MLA Hostel Hall.
