Shillong, Feb 5: Amidsts the hustle bustle of the city streets during the rushing hours of the day when political candidates from different political parties filed their nomination in the East Khasi hills District Election Officer (DEO) office accompanied by supporters, an unclaimed bag near the old General Post Office has drawn fears and create a panic situation.
The unclaimed bag kept atop the GPO red post box has raised suspicion among the people thinking that the bag might contain explosive device.
It has also drawn the attention of the police from the bomb disposal squad to immediately rushed to the spot.
In fact the bomb disposal squad zoomed past the DEO office with siren blaring and many people who had accompanied the candidates and were waiting outside were surprise to see the speeding vehicle with an activated siren.
However, on conducted examination, it was found out that the bag might have forgotten by someone.
Meanwhile, Police sources informed that investigation is being conducted and the details are still awaited. (SP News)
