Shillong, May 10: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsh celebrations, a delegation of 25 Bangladesh Freedom Fighters involved in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation war visited Headquarters Eastern Air Command of Indian Air Force in Shillong on 10 May 2022.
Air Marshal AP Singh , AVSM , Senior Air Staff Officer ( SASO ) interacted with the brave Mukti Jodhas and praised their role and efforts towards liberation of Bangladesh during the 1971 Bangladesh war. They were accompanied by Shri. F. R. Kharkongor, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to the Govt. of Meghalaya, Arts & Culture Department.
The Commissioner thanked the Eastern Air Command for organising a befitting function and said that some members of the delegation even got emotional during the function as they relived their memories of the war.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr .Haroon Habib paid homage to the heroic members of the Indian Armed Forces who fought for the liberation of Bangladesh and said that their contributions will remain enshrined in Bangladesh’s independence history.
This visit is being undertaken as part of Golden Jubilee of Liberation War of 1971 and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations and provides an opportunity for members of the delegation to relive the moments of Liberation War.
