Maligaon, Dec 29: With a view to improve the freight transportation and providing better customer interface, N. F. Railway has taken several initiatives during the month of November, 2021. The initiatives include opening of goods traffic handling facility, introduction of Debit/Credit facility at more stations etc.
To improve customer interface and further augment freight transportation, Ghograpar railway station has been opened for handling of inward automobile traffic until further advice w.e.f. 02.11.2021. Jalalgarh station has also been opened for handling of Steel Pipe Consignment (Crane Consignment) too until further order w.e.f. 09.11.2021.
New Mal Junction has been opened for handling of both outward and inward goods traffic except Coal, POL, Live Stock, Explosive and Crane Consignment until further advice w.e.f. 09.11.2021. Earlier, it was opened for handling of both outward and inward RMC (Ballast) traffic until further advice.
New Bongaigaon railway station was opened for inward Iron and Steel consignment (Crane Consignment) as an experimental basis for a period of 03 months w.e.f. 22.07.2021. Now, it has been decided to extend validity for opening of New Bongaigaon station for handling of inward Iron and Steel Consignment (Crane Consignment) for a period up to 28.02.2022.
Similarly, Lanka railway station has been opened for handling of inward Iron and Steel Consignment (Crane Consignment) until further advice w.e.f. 22.11.2021. Earlier, New Haflong station was opened for handling of outward Boulder traffic only till further order. Now, it has also been opened for handling of inward Cement traffic w.e.f. 30.11.2021 until further advice.
Moreover, Debit/Credit facility for demurrage has been introduced in another 05 nos. of terminals for better turn round of wagons during the month of November, 2021. At present, a total 29 location/siding/customer are availing this scheme.
