Shillong, May 06: office of the Chief Engineer HQ Research and Development Establishment (BRO), Shri P K Baruah flagged off a motorcycle rally from their Headquarters in Nongmensong, Shillong to commemorate the 61st Raising Day of Border Roads Organisation.
Mr Baruah while interacting with media personnel said that this rally is being organized by various BRO Projects across the Nation on the eve of 61st BRO Day and also to celebrate “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” being observed nationwide on 75th Indias Independence day.
Besides creating awareness on road safety and covid-19 protocol among the countrymen, the rally also aims to spread good wishes of DGBR for well being of people during difficult time during covid pandemic.
The motorcycle expedition comprising of 01 officer and 03 subordinates will traverse through Meghalaya and Assam and culminates at HQ Additional Directorate General Border Roads located at Jhalukbari, Guwahati where Shri P K H Singh, VSM, Addl DGBR will flag in the bikers.
The Headquarter Research and Development Establishment (BRO) is the only research institute of BRO in the country, located at Shillong and mandated to carry out various research works in the field of roads, bridges, tunnels and airfield construction to expedite the pace of construction by incorporating new material and technology in BRO works.
The BRO is doing yeomen job by creating infrastructure in inaccessible Himalayan Regions in border areas. BRO engineers face numerous engineering and climatic challenges and use of new materials and technologies in road construction in such areas has been a boon for speedy construction of Projects.
