Shillong, Sept 21: Every year, 21st September is observed as International Day of Peace around the world. The Department of Conflict Management and Peace Initiatives (CMPI) of Martin Luther Christian University joined the rest of the world in observing this day by organising a workshop on the theme “Climate Action for Peace” in collaboration with the Nichols-Roy Bible College (NBC), Sohryngkham at NBC campus. The workshop was attended by the students and faculty of CMPI, MLCU and students, faculty, and staff of NBC, Sohryngkham.
The program was held in two sessions. In the first session, Mr. L.D. Marwein, NBC Faculty Member, presented a paper on “Climate Action for Peace: A Biblical Perspective.” In this paper, it is emphasised that Christians have the biblical mandate to be good stewards of nature and the environment.
In the second session Dr. Marbakor Lynrah, a project scientist under Meghalaya Climate Change Centre (MBDA), gave a presentation on “Climate Action for Peace: Meghalaya Perspective.” Dr. Lynrah’s presentation outlines the challenges of environmental care in the state of Meghalaya.
