Shillong, June 05: The online Quiz competition was organized by the Department of Geology, North[1]Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, New Delhi, National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi.
Disaster Management, Initiatives and Convergence Society, Hyderabad and Geological Society of India, Bengaluru on 05th June 2024 from 17:30 hrs onwards, this program was organized to celebrate World Environment Day to raising awareness and promoting action for environmental protection.
The United Nations decade (2021-2030) on “Ecosystem Restoration,” highlights the urgent need to restore our natural habitats to combat climate change, protect biodiversity, and improve human well-being and the theme of this year World Environment Day gel with the present-day requirements and its “Our land, Our future #GenerationRestoration.
The Inaugural Session started with the welcome address by Prof. Devesh Walia, Dean, School of Human and Environmental Sciences, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong. In his speech, he emphasized that restoring our ecosystems goes beyond merely recovering from past damage; it is about constructing a resilient future.
By uniting on World Environment Day, we can catalyse global action and achieve significant progress towards a sustainable world. The Quiz Competition was conducted by Dr. Shikhar Kumar successfully amongst the 120+ registered participants from different states of India and the results were declared at the end of the program using Mentimeter.
Participants appreciated the initiatives and expected more such awareness quiz programs. The winners of the quiz will be rewarded during the National seminar 127th Anniversary of Great Shillong Earthquake: Are we prepared? will be held on 12th June, 2024 at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong
