Shillong, Oct 04: Dr Mukul Sangma leader of the opposition in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly who is also the former Chief Minister has written a letter to the Chief Minister Mr Conrad K Sangma, alleged that irregular transfer of police officer is due to political interference.
The letter written by the leader of the opposition stated that “I am writing this letter to bring to your notice that in the last few months, a number of haphazard and irregular transfers of police officers across different ranks and files have been affected. This development has vitiated the environment in the whole Police Organisation, as most of these transfers have been an outcome of political interference”.
“It is imperative to note that the Police Organisation plays a crucial role in the whole process of “Administration of Justice”, besides the burden of various other responsibilities of attending to call of duty as per mandate of law”.
The former Chief Minister said that this whole action resorted to by the authorities due to political interference is in contravention of the provisions of the Meghalaya Police Act 2010, creating an unhealthy precedence which will have a serious bearing in the whole process of “Administration of Justice”.
In the letter the leader of the opposition Dr Mukul Sangma urge the Chief Minister to call for a discussion related to the transfer of police officer in the State Security Commission at the earliest.
