Shillong, April 10: The Commissioner and Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Smti R. Lyngdoh today felicitated frontline and COVID warriors of East Khasi Hills District during a felicitation programme of frontline workers cum sharing of experiences workshop organized by the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, at Shillong Club.
The programme was attended by Miss Isawanda Laloo, Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, Shri S. Nongtnger, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Miss D. Phawa, ADC and CEO, DDMA, East Khasi Hills District beside senior officers and incharge of different Covid cells of the District.
Speaking on the occasion, Smti Lyngdoh congratulate the District Disaster Management Authority of all the eleven Districts in the State for the role they have played in the fight against the Covid pandemic.
She also lauded the service rendered by frontline workers who have been working round the clock and leave their personal lives, families and even their own safety for containing the spread of Covid-19 and helping the needy will be remembered for generations to come.
Smti Lyngdoh remind, as government employees it is our duties to comfort, provide and deliver our service for the safety of the people of the state. She also expressed confidence that with the experienced we have gained during the last one year, the District administration and the state as a whole would be able to handle the second wave systematically.
For prevention from this Covid, Smti Lyngdoh also appealed to all the citizens of the State to strictly follow the health protocols like wearing a mask, wash hand frequently, use sanitiser and maintain social distance at all. As part of the programme, officers incharge of various cell shared their experienced face by them and their teams during the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
Other highlights of the programme, includes distribution of appreciation certificates by the Commissioner and Secretary to officers and staff of the District performing their COVID duties at various capacity, released a documentary video highlighted on COVID-19 management in East Khasi Hills District and Coffee Table Book naming “Taming the Panic” highlighting the efforts made by the District administration in fighting against COVID-19.
