Shillong, June 13: The four day Eastern Command Adventure Camp for the Year 2018 under the aegis of Headquarter 101 Area was conducted by 58 Gorkha Training Centre at Happy Valley recently where 57 students from North Eastern State participate in the Camp.
The aim of the Adventure Camp was to inculcate spirit of adventure, competitiveness, team spirit, camaraderie and espirit-de-corps amongst the children. The Camp was unique in all facets as the spectrum of activities were multi dimensional which ranged from rock climbing, firing of air pistols, archery, jungle trail walking, map reading & navigation, obstacle crossing, Jungle Survival Skills and team games which included Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, etc.
57 children within the age group of 12 – 17 years from North Eastern States attended the Camp with great zeal and enthusiasm. Apart from the outdoor activities, the camp also included tree plantation by the children on the occasion of World Environment Day on 05 Jun 18, activities based workshop, lecture on channelising emotions and singing competition to bring out hidden talent amongst the budding and enthusiastic children.
The children during the camp visited almost all places of interests in Shillong which included Shillong Peak, Wards Lake, DGAR Museum, Air Force Museum, Manekshaw Museum. The outdoor activities culminated with the visit at Raj Bhawan of Meghalaya wherein they interacted with His Excellency Hon’ble Governor of Meghalaya Shri Ganga Prasad and learnt about the state, his way of life as Governor and his contribution towards the state.
