Shillong, August 16: The Government of Meghalaya has declared State Holiday on 17th August, 2018 to mourn the death of former Prime Minister of India, Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
All Schools, Colleges and Government Offices and Establishments will remain closed on the day. The Chief Secretary of Meghalaya has sent with the wireless message to all Deputy Commissioners in the state.
In the wireless message mention that the Government of India announce with profound sorrow the death of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee former Prime Minister of India today at AIIMS Hospital New Delhi.
As a mark of respct to the departed dignity it has been decided that seven day state mourning will be observe throughout the state from 16.8.2018. During this period the national flag will be flown at half mast throughout the state. There will be no official entertainment during state mourning.
As mark of respect to the departed dignity Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee former Prime Minister of India all state government offices, institutions, education institutions shall remain closed 17th August tomorrow.
