Shillong, Feb 05: On 4th Feb’ 2013, at about 1930 hrs, on specific input regarding GNLA activities, BSF troops Ex 23 Bn deployed in South West Garo Hills distt of Meghalaya launched a Spl operation and apprehended one Hardcore GNLA cadre from Mahenderganj town distt- South West Garo Hills (Meghalaya). The cadre was identified as Chengbath Momin, s/o Nogen D Sangma r/o vill- Chenkopara Ps- Ampati, Distt- South West Garo Hills. During preliminary questioning it was revealed that he is proficient in the handling of weapons such as 9 mm Pistol, AK-47 and LMG and He was also involved in kidnapping of one coal baron of Gasuapara where he collected 5 lakhs as ransom. It was further revealed that he was going to Baghmara for receiving the arms from some Bangladeshi party.
In another incident on 5th Jan’ 2012, on specific input, BSF troops of BOP Latangtilla Ex-108 Bn, deployed in Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya apprehended one Bangladeshi illegal immigrant namely Md Rafiq, aged 35yrs, s/o Late Mohd Dil r/o Vill- Rohjon Ps- Sanj, Distt- Chittagaon, Bangladesh, while he was trying to infiltrate from Bangladesh to India near BP No. 1275/MP. During the search, Ops party also recovered Rs.952/- Indian currency and 02 Nos Mobiles with 01 BD SIM from his possession.
Besides above, BSF troops of Meghalaya Ftr, also seized 20 nos cattle, 428 Btls Liquor and other contraband items of the estimated cost of Rs. 3,62,000 ( Rupees Three lacs Sixty two Thousand only) during the last week.(SP News)
