IIM Shillong Hosts 3rd CXO Round Table Meet and Stakeholder Meeting in Bangalore

Shillong, November 07: The IIM Shillong, an institution of national importance (INI), convened the 3rd CXO Round Table Meet and Stakeholder Meeting in Bangalore, a significant milestone in the institution’s 15-year journey of unwavering commitment to excellence.

Under the theme “Reconnect, Reflect, and Reimagine,” this event brought together an esteemed panel of industry leaders, academicians, stakeholders, and alumni to engage in profound discussions encompassing the evolving landscape of management education and the future of business management.

As the sole representative of the IIMs in the entire Northeastern region, IIM Shillong embarked on a celebratory journey that commenced in Delhi on October 15, 2023. The CXO Round Table Meet and Stakeholder Meeting in Bangalore are integral components of this nationwide celebration.

The CXO Round Table Meet and Stakeholder Meeting are meticulously structured to “Reconnect” with esteemed industry partners who have been indispensable in IIM Shillong’s growth and success.

Their invaluable insights and constructive feedback have been pivotal in refining the institution’s education curriculum, thus equipping future graduates to excel in the ever-evolving business landscape.

“Reflecting” on the instrumental role of management education in fostering growth and fortification of the Indian business sector, the event was strategically focused on how management schools must adapt to embrace the profound shifts instigated by technology, societal dynamics, and evolving aspirations.

The CXO Round Table Meet provided a unique platform for knowledge exchange and networking, facilitating leaders from diverse domains to connect, share insights, and collaborate on addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital era.

Shri Nitin Sharma, member,BoG, IIM Shillong, urged alumni stakeholders, to embark on innovative collaborations with the institution. Mr. Sharma also acknowledged the transformative journey of IIM Shillong over the past few years.

Professor Goyal emphasized the importance of seeking insights from corporate leaders in shaping course curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and pedagogy, highlighting the global paradigm shift in education.

He underscored the urgent need for substantial transformation in content, delivery methods, and evaluation processes, with a keen focus on learning from industry leaders.

The panel discussions, with their focus on strengthening industry-academia engagements, highlighted the significance of identifying areas for developing new courses that ensure graduates are industry-ready.

Ltd.; Shri Mahipal Nair, MD and Vice President/Head of Human Resources, India & APJ at Trellix India; Ms. Carol Furtado, Chief Business Officer at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank; Shri Nanda Kishore, Chief Operating Officer at Americas One WIPRO Ltd; and Shri SukeshChoubey, Senior Partner Technology Consulting Leader at EY GDS (Global Delivery Services).

The role of AI in education was highlighted, urging educational institutions to integrate AI-related subjects into their curricula. Holistic solutions, thought diversity, and adaptability to technological advancements were stressed, particularly in the context of the emerging Gen AI.

The transformation of the consulting industry was discussed, emphasizing the need for graduates with open minds to navigate changing client dynamics. The imperative of evolving businesses and instilling an entrepreneurial mindset in students was underscored, along with the recommendation to incorporate cross-functional teamwork in educational programs to align with current industry practices.

The Stakeholder Meeting in Bangalore celebrated IIM Shillong’s alumni community, with hundreds of alumni actively participating in commemorating the institution’s 15-year journey in management education.
