Shillong, June 11: Today at around 11.30 am, one Mr Talbinus Dhar 24 years, a taxi driver while he was smoking in M/s New Starlight Mobile Shop, Jowai West Jiantia Hills District, the shopkeeper Mr Dharmendra Kumar Shah 23 years told him not to do so.
However, Mr Talbinus Dhar challenged him and a scuffle took place where Mr Talbinus Dhar sustained minor injury. Following this, the local people gathered in front of the shop in support of Talbinus Dhar.
In this regard, Jowai Police intervened and arrested Mr Dharmendra Kumar Shah. The victim lodged a complaint at Jowai Police Station. However, a group of 50 to 60 people gathered in front of Jowai Police Station and shouted slogans.
District Magistrate, West Jaintia Hills has promulgated Sec. 144 CrPC restricting movement and gathering of five or more persons and carrying of dangerous implements.
