Shillong, July 29: The political party KHNAM from the State Youth Wing has written to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mr Conrad K Sangma asking the government for the amendment to the Constitution, Schedule Tribe Ordar 1950.
In the letter the KHNAM State Youth Wing said that in the past they have voice about the irregularities in the Constitution (Schedule Tribe) Order 1950, whereby, till date, the subject order 1950 Pt XI, Sl No. 6 have notified Khasi, Jaintia, Synteng, Pnar, War, Bhoi, Lyngamas Scheduled Tribe of the State which is incorrect, misleading, and such errors may create confusion and bring about legal hurdles in the future and further divide the indigenous communities if not corrected are the earliest.
The KHNAM youth wing aksed the Chief Minister to take up the matter for amendment of the (Schedule Tribe) Order 1950Pt XI, Sl No 6 and clearly mentioned Khasi,constituting of sub-tribe, Khyrriam, Pnar, Bhoi, War, Marram and Lyngam as Scheduled Tribe in the State of Meghalaya along with other tribes already notified in the order.
