Tura, March 25: A massive fire broke out at the residence of former Tura MDC Farcen Ch Momin, son of Meghalaya’s first Chief Minister, Late Captain Williamson A Sangma, in Hawakhana on Tuesday, shortly before noon.
The house, part of the historic complex associated with the state’s political legacy, was quickly engulfed in flames, sending shockwaves through the community.
Fire tenders rushed to the scene to contain the blaze as thick smoke billowed into the sky. Eyewitnesses reported that the flames spread rapidly, posing a threat to adjacent structures within the heritage complex.
