Shillong, The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mr. Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Apollo Telehealth Centre under the Smart Village Movement in collaboration with Apollo Hospital at Rongjeng, East Garo Hills.
To address the critical healthcare challenges including accessibility, availability and affordability of basic healthcare services, the Government of Meghalaya.
This was done in collaboration with the Smart Village Movement, has engaged Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited has envisaged to setup Digital Dispensaries in 5 locations in the State, based on the need and disease burden identified.
Through technology enabled healthcare interventions, the Digital dispensaries program will provide access to healthcare services to the tribal and underserved population of Khasi and Garo Hills regions in 5 locations.
The five location where these Digital Dispensaries are, Tyrsad and Mawdngung are in East Khasi District, Rongjeng in East Garo Hills District, Dadenggre and Tura are in West Garo Hills District.
The Services offered at the Digital Dispensaries include Primary Tele Consultations, Specialty and Super Specialty Teleconsultations, Tele Laboratory Services, Screening for Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), Social Health Education.
The project has been designed to be a self-sustaining and pay-per-use model, with subsidized and nominal rates being charges from the patients for the services provided at the digital dispensaries.
