Shillong, July 07: The Anti Human Trafficking of the Meghalaya Police today conducted raid has apprehended three sex workers and three clients from Barik-Dhankheti today. In this connection a case was register with Laitkumkhrah Police station.
The case number No.99 (07)2021 U/S 7(I)(b) Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act and legal action taken up, to prevent this sort of activity in the area apart from booking workers, clients also apprehended in the area will face legal action under Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act and the Meghalaya Police Act.
The Superintendent of police said that base on the complaints from the public that sex workers were operating in the Barik –Dhankheti area the police conducted raid in the area at around 11.00 PM on the 2/7/2021 and many people were seen coming on vehicles as clients, the raid was conducted Anti Human Trafficking of East Khasi Hills where three sex workers and three clients were arrested.
