Shillong, Sept 06: Meghalaya police today in the morning base on the information received that one truck NL 01 0224 suspected to be trafficking narcotic drugs was heading to Tripura from Guwahati.
The ANTF team led by DSP City EKH, Mr B Jyrwa MPS set up a naka along with Diengpasoh Police and intercepted the truck at Shillong By Pass, during search, one jute bag containing 5 sealed packets of suspected Yaba tablets were recovered from the ceiling of the cabin of the truck.
Preliminary test was conducted which indicated positive for meta amphetamines. The total weight of the tablets is 5.076 kg.The truck was loaded with IMFL beer and was on it’s way from Guwahati to Agartala.
The driver Shri Mithan Nama, 31 years of Gopalpur, North Tripura has been arrested and a case vide Diengpasoh P.S case No 14 (09) 2020 U/s 22 (c)/23 (c) NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation to unravel the racket.
