Meghalaya police urges public to use 112 as common emergency helpline

Shillong, Oct 28: The Office of the Director General of Police, Meghalaya, has urged the public to use Dial 112 as the common emergency helpline number for police assistance, fire services, disaster-related emergencies and other emergency services under the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS).

In a communication, the office stated that police control room numbers 2226101 and 2222217, along with fire service numbers 101, 2227000 and 2520400, have been regularly published in newspapers under the category of “Important Telephone Numbers”.

To promote greater public awareness and encourage the use of a unified emergency response number, the office has requested that Dial 112 be published in place of the existing fire service numbers 101, 2227000 and 2520400.

The initiative aims to familiarise the public with the unified emergency helpline and facilitate access to emergency assistance through a single number.
