Shillong, August 14: The festival of patriotism found passionate display across the state, as citizens united to unfurl the tri-colour at almost every location in Meghalaya.
The celebrations consisted of bike rallies, walks for the nation, tributes to freedom fighters right down to simple unfurling of the flag by people before they got down to their routine, daily work.
As the citizens of the state enthusiastically answered the Prime Minister’s call of ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’, the national flag was unfurled at every conceivable spot; from vegetable kiosks to farming lands, from roadside shops to large retail outlets, from vehicles to homes and every place in between.
This amazing public participation, celebrating the spirit of nationlism, could be witnessed throughout the state – West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, East Khasi Hills, Shillong City, Tura City and Garo Hills and Jaintia hills.
