Shillong, Oct 06: Meghalaya’s State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) yesterday recovered a car submerged in the flood water at Dalu Sonagre junction.
The vehicle bearing West Bengal registration plates (WB 06 7718, Wagon R) is believed to have been occupied by a father and his child when it was swept away in the flash floods.
The SDRF team had launched a search operation for the missing occupants of the vehicle and are yet to locate the bodies of the father and child. Shri SCR Sangma, Deputy Controller of Civil Defence, West Garo Hills district reports that the SAR operation has been halted yesterday but it will continue today in the morning.
The SDRF team has been stationed in flood hit Dalu area since Friday following flash floods due to heavy rainfall.
