Maligaon, Sept 10: The General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway Shri Sanjive Roy along with senior officials including the Divisional Railway Manager of Tinsukia Division Shri Ashish Sharma interacted with Members of Parliament and Members of Rajya Sabhas whose constituencies are served by Tinsukia Division at a meeting held at Divisional Headquarters in Tinsukia today.
The meeting was attended by Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Shri Topon Kumar Gogoi, Member of Parliament Lok Sabh) Shri Pradan Baruah, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha Shri Tapir Gao from Arunachal Pradesh, Member of Parliament Lok Sabha and Minister of State FPI Shri Rameswar Teli and Shri Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha.
At the beginning of the meeting General Manager highlighted the overall development of N.F. Railway. Followed by the GM’s speech, Divisional Railway Manager Shri Ashish Sharma gave brief description of various activities of Tinsukia Division.
The N.F. Railway is continuously thriving to provide better service to the railway users. The General Manager said that 456 coaches of total 14 trains under NFR have been provided with new LHB coaches replacing previous old coaches.
The NFR has provided local train facility to the users and all the prominent towns of upper Assam such as Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Digboi, Jorhat, Sivsagar, Titabor etc. are well connected to each other. Elaborating various activities undertaken by the division, senior officials said that Railway is trying to upgrade the Jorhat Station with its best efforts.
All the Level Crossing gates have been manned and elimination of manned level crossing by Road Under Bridge will be taken up for as per site feasibility. Both Simaluguri and Sivsagar stations fall under category NSG-5 and 6 respectively and have been beautified with mural painting focusing on local themes and cultural importance. 18 pairs Mail Express trains including one pair of Rajdhani Express linking major cities like Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Patna, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Luucknow, Trivandrum etc. have stoppage at Simaluguri.
The updated Preliminary Engineering cum Traffic survey (PET) has been completed for the train line connecting Dangri to Dhola. N.F. Railway has completed field survey for the new Railway line from Pasighat to Rupai via Roing, Tezu, Parsuram Kund, Chowkham and Namsai. Moreover, survey from Margherita to Deomali has been completed and report has been submitted to Railway Board.
The MPs also gave various suggestions like up gradation of stations, increase in frequency of Rajdhani Express, stoppages of some long distance trains at different stations, doubling of railway line from Guwahati to New Tinsukia and improving other passenger amenities which the GM had noted and assured to implement the suggestions wherever feasible.
