Maligaon, February 28: The 97th meeting of the N.F. Railway Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) was held at Maligaon on 28th February, 2025.Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager NF Railway presided over the meeting, which was conducted smoothly by DGM and Secretary ZRUCC Shri Anurag Agarwal.
It was attended by Hon’ble Members of Parliament Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy (Jalpaiguri) and Shri Khagen Murmu (Maldah Uttar);Members of State Legislative Assemblies including Shri Rupjyoti Kurmi (Mariani) and Shri Er.Tapi Darang (Pasighat East), representatives of MPs, senior officers from state governments and other members from North-eastern states as well asWest Bengal and Bihar.
The main objective of the meeting was to have direct interaction with representatives from various categories of railway users for sharing of ideas and suggestions for improvement of railway infrastructure and services in the region
Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, while welcoming all members to the meeting urged them to put forward their suggestion on each and every field of railway related services and assured that the suggestions would be given due importance by the railway authorities. He also informed that various connectivity works are going on for further improvement of rail connectivity to capitals of the North-eastern states.
Additionally, six new Gati Shakti cargo terminals are being opened and round the clock working has been introduced at various goods sheds to facilitate local traders and businessmen and to boost local economy while various customer-friendly initiatives are also being provided.
The general manager mentioned aboutNFR’s progress towards achieving 100% railway electrification by 2025, introduction of QR code machines at the ticket counters over NFR, to enable cashless transactions and enhanced catering services at various stations.
Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava also informed the Hon’ble members about the successful implementation of the Intrusion Detection System, which has played a crucial role in preventing elephant fatalities on railway tracks.
The meeting also featured detailed discussions on various issues of importance like resumption of local trains, additional stoppages, enhancement of passenger amenities, and security improvements at stations and onboard trains.
Other important topics included the construction of new railway tracks, construction of new RUB/ROB and FOB, as well as the interlocking and elimination of LC gates.
Indian Railways has established structured platforms such as the Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) and the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (ZRUCC), which convene regularly to deliberate on key issues related to passenger services, cleanliness, catering, and punctuality. These committees facilitate continuous interaction between railway authorities and stakeholders, ensuring ongoing improvements in railway services.
