Maligaon, March 31: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) introduced LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches for the Balurghat – Howrah Express, enhancing passenger safety and comfort.
The upgraded train was flagged off on 30th March, 2025 at Balurghat Railway Station by Dr. Sukanta Mazumdar, Hon’ble Union Minister of state for Education and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Budhrai Tudu, Hon’ble Member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly, along with senior railway officials.
Dr. Majumdar, in his address, highlighted the government’s dedication to improving railway infrastructure in West Bengal. He emphasized that the introduction of LHB coaches on trains originating from Balurghat will significantly boost rail connectivity and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.
The transition from conventional ICF coaches to LHB coaches marks a major milestone in railway development. These modern coaches are designed to offer enhanced safety features, including an anti-telescopic structure that prevents serious damage in case of collisions.
Passengers can also experience greater comfort due to advanced suspension systems, ensuring a smoother journey. Additionally, LHB coaches are capable of operating at higher speeds, thereby reducing travel time while providing aesthetically improved interiors for a pleasant travel experience.
