NDA looks set to bag Tura Lok Sabha seat as leaders meet and workers exude confidence

Tura, April 08: With the Lok Sabha election dates for Meghalaya fast approaching, the two NDA partners in the state  BJP and NPP  met in Tura on 7th April, to co-ordinate efforts for Agatha Sangma’s victory from the constituency.

What makes the exercise special is that the co-ordination efforts are being steered at the highest level, with BJP being led by State President Shri Rikman G Momin and NPP being captained by the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma himself.

The Tura meet marks the second such summit between the highest leaders of the two parties and comes subsequent to the one that was held in Shillong recently.

The Chief Minister Mr. Conrad Sangma reminded the gathering of the close relationship he has shared with the Prime Minister, a relationship that goes back over a decade, and pointed out that every vote for an NDA candidate is a reaffirmation of people’s faith in the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, a thought that finds resonance amongst every BJP karyakarta in the state and nation.

During his address, the Chief Minister reserved special praise for Rikman G Momin, calling his efforts at ensuring smooth co-ordination and perfect teamwork an inspiration in itself. The BJP State President’s single minded endeavours towards confirming an NDA victory should serve as an example for everyone, the Chief Minister commented.

The meeting was attended by both BJP MDC’s, Shri Bernard Marak and Shri Benedict Marak, along with over 300 leaders and workers of the party. The enthusiastic participation and vocal commitment towards an NDA victory by Garo Hills BJP workers totally dismantles the rumour mills which have been working overtime recently, trying to paint a picture of disgruntlement amongst the BJP karyakartas in both Shillong and Tura constituencies.

The BJP State President negated reports carried in one state Newspaper which claimed that absorption of the two BJP MDC’s was a condition laid out by BJP in return for support to Agatha Sangma during the elections.

“The central leadership of BJP decided to support NDA candidates in Meghalaya and the disciplined workers of the party don’t even dream of going against our highly respected leadership. I am repeating this again, for it warrants repetition. Such stories reek of vested interests and reputed media houses should avoid printing such baseless tales”, Shri Rikman G Momin said.

The state BJP also hit out at TMC leader Mukul Sangma who had alleged that Congress candidate Mr. Vincent Pala was the architect of a BJP-NPP-Congress nexus in Meghalaya.

“Officially BJP in Meghalaya is supporting NPP as an alliance partner of the NDA. BJP’s tie up with the Congress is an absurd remark”, stated BJP’s Chief Spokesperson, Shri Mariahom Kharkrang.
