Shillong, Iaiong 11: The premier institute in Meghalaya has once again achieved glory from the efforts of its faculty. In recent development Dr. Tanie Natung, Professor and Head, Department of Ophthalmology has been honored with the prestigious “Sushruta Samman” award.
The award was presented to him during the 5th National Assembly of Forum of Ophthalmology Professors of India (FOPI) & Pan India HOD Ophthalmology Group meeting held at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh from 2-3rd April, 2022.
He was honored for his outstanding role as a Professor & HOD, Ophthalmology in Teaching and Training the Undergraduate (MBBS) & Post Graduate (MD/MS) Students and Excellence in eye surgeries.
Sushruta Samman is the highest national award accorded by FOPI in Ophthalmology for Professors with outstanding contributions to teaching and training and excellence in eye surgeries.
Further, Prof. (Dr.) T. Natung is also the recipient of the prestigious ‘International Council of Ophthalmology’ fellowship award and ‘Delhi Ophthalmological Society’ travel grant award previously. He is an expert in Phaco-refractive surgeries and Strabismus & Pediatric Ophthalmology.
In another pride moment, NEIGRIHMS, Shillong bagged 1st position in the country for their outstanding performance in observance of World Oral Health Day celebrated on March 20th, 2022 where more than 150 Dental colleges and institutes from all over India participated.
The observance program was held at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi on 8th April 2022 and the winners were handed with certificates by Dr. Sunil Kumar DGHS, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The World Oral Health Day was celebrated by the Department of Dentistry NEIGRIHMS under the bright leadership of Prof. S Vijay Singh (Professor & HoD).
NEIGRIHMS conducted Radio talk show, Awareness Run Campaign, Poster Competition and various community based programs including Oral screening in Schools, orphanage and old age home along with distribution of toothbrush and toothpaste, pamphlets on importance of Oral & Dental health during the observance of World Oral Health Day.
In continuing efforts to provide best affordable treatments to patients, NEIGRIHMS also received ‘Ayushman Utkristata Puraskar 2021’ for best performing Hospital in small State category. The award certificate was handed over to NEIGRIHMS on 8th April 2022.
NEIGRIHMS has successfully Implemented Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY in convergence with MHIS (Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme) for the benefit of poor patients.
The award is given for NEIGRIHMS’s contribution as a highest number of Insurance claims raised by hospital in smallest State category. In addition to these schemes, NEIGRIHMS is also implementing CMAAY (Chief Minister Arunachal Aarogya Yojna) and RAN (Rastriya Aarogya Nidhi) schemes for cashless treatment to needy patients.
