Ampati, July 31: The District Administration, South West Garo Hills, in collaboration with various departments, successfully organised a One-Day Enrolment Drive for Aadhaar enrolment and updation, Birth & Death Registration, issuance of Birth and Death Certificates, and Aadhaar seeding for various Central welfare schemes at Betasing PHC under Betasing C&RD Block, with support from the Chief Minister’s Catalytic Fund for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The initiative, the second such drive conducted in the district within a span of two days, brought multiple citizen-centric services under one roof, enabling beneficiaries to access essential services at a single location. Birth and Death Certificates were issued on the spot, while Aadhaar enrolment and updation were carried out after verification of the required documents.
Nearly 2,000 beneficiaries attended the enrolment drive.The drive was visited by Shri D. B. G. Momin, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner & DPO, Ampati; Smt. Crystal R. N. Sangma, MCS, Block Development Officer, Betasing C&RD Block; and Shri Meai Kyrpang Wankar, MCS, Assistant Commissioner, who reviewed the arrangements. Officials from the SDM&HO, Supply Department, CDPO, and other district departments were also present.
The programme was supported by officials from the Certificate Branch, Executive Magistrates, Aadhaar enrolment operators, and other concerned departments. More than 50 ASHA workers assisted beneficiaries in completing application forms and guided them through the registration process. Officials from the Supply Department facilitated Aadhaar seeding for various welfare schemes and Aadhaar updation for over 40 beneficiaries, ensuring timely delivery of services.
Prior to the drive, the District Administration coordinated with the District Medical & Health Officer to mobilise beneficiaries through ASHA workers and ensured adequate facilities at the venue, including dedicated service counters, seating arrangements, electricity, and safe drinking water.
The drive benefited school children, beneficiaries of Social Welfare Schemes, and beneficiaries of the Supply Branch. Beneficiaries were advised to bring the necessary documents, including proof of identity, proof of residence, and other supporting documents as required for respective services.
The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening civil registration systems, expanding Aadhaar coverage, and improving access to essential public services at the grassroots level in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
