Railway Protection Force of NFR recovered railway E-Tickets worth more than Rs. 2.60 Lakhs

Maligaon, April 02:  The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway on receipt of information raided thirteen shops/agencies in different locations this week to check illegal sale of railway E-Tickets. During this raid conducted on 30th & 31st March, 2022, 274 railway e-tickets worth more than Rs. 2.60 lakhs were recovered.

The 13 persons were also apprehended and prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act. On 31th March, 2022, a team of RPF/New-Guwahati conducted a raid at ‘Shine Technology’ located at Panjabari, Guwahati. Eighteen E-Tickets worth Rs. 09 thousand along with three printed pages of ticket history, one copy of IRCTC certificate, one Aadhaar card, a rent agreement & a mobile phone with two SIM card were seized from the shop.

The shop owner was taken into custody and a case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act. Agaon on 31th March, 2022, RPF team of Dimapur conducted raids at three specific locations of Golaghat, Karbi Anglong & Dimapur.

The 13 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs. 11 thousand was recovered from ‘Mech Digital House’ located at Ghulapani, Golaghat along with seizure of a mobile phone with SIM card.

Similarly, at Gharial Dubi, Karbi Anglong, 02 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs. 09 thousand were seized along with seizure of a mobile phone with SIM from a shop named ‘S.K. Digital Studio’. At Dimapur, RPF team recovered 03 railway E-Tickets worth Rs. 14 hundred along with seizure of a mobile phone with SIM from a shop named ‘Student Corner’ located at Burma Camp Bazar.

Three persons were apprehended respectively from all the three locations and were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act. In a similar incident, on 31th March, 2022, RPF team of Dharmanagar raided three different locations of Tripura. 27 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs. 49 thousand along with electronic items were seized from a shop named ‘Sarkar Travels Shop’.

The shop was located at Chailengta market of Dhalai, Tripura. RPF apprehended one person in this connection. In another incident, at Dhalai’s Manu market, a shop named ‘Xerox Shop’ was raided and 23 numbers of railway E-Tickets were recovered worth Rs. 25 thousand along with electronic items were seized.

A person was apprehended in this connection from the shop. On the same day, RPF raided a shop named ‘Studio’, located at Sanichera market, Churaibari (North Tripura) and apprehended one person. 17 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs. 07 thousandalong with other electronic items were recovered from the shop.

All the apprehended persons from these locations were booked under section 143 of Railways Act for further prosecution. On 31th March, 2022, RPF team of Badarpur raided three locations at Karimganj, Assam. A shop named ‘Maa Durga Enterprise’ located at Badarpur was raided and 50 numbers of railway E-Tickets were seized valued around Rs. 23 thousand, along with other electronic items.

The owner of the shop was taken into custody. Similarly, another person was apprehended from a shop named ‘J.B. Travels & Computers’ located at Bhanga bazar, Badarpur. 39 railway E-Tickets were seized worth around Rs. 32 thousand along with electronic gadgets and a cash amount of Rs. 750.

The owner of the shop was arrested in this connection. In another shop named ‘Arohi Computers’ located at Karimganj Bazar, RPF raided and recovered 27 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs.11 thousand along with other electronic items but the owner of the shop managed to flee away.

In another incident, PRF of Purnia recovered 17 railway E-Tickets worth around Rs. 32 thousand from ‘Rohit Enterprise’ located at Shrinagar, Purnia (Bihar). A person was apprehended in this connection. All the apprehended persons were booked under section 143 of Railways Act for further prosecution.

Similarly, on 30th March, 2022, RPF team of Dharmanagar & Kamakhya post arrested 02 persons from two different locations and seized 24 numbers and 14 numbers of E-Tickets worth around Rs 33 thousand and Rs. 21 thousand respectively along with other electronic items and cash.

The shops were named as ‘First Choice’ located at Karimganj and ‘Vedkarta Enterprise’ located at Guwahati. A case was registered under section 143 of Railways Act for further prosecution.

The RPF of N.F. Railway keeps a close vigil on touting activities to prevent illegal selling of Railway Tickets. Unauthorized carrying on of business of procurement and supply of railway tickets is a punishable offence under section 143 of the Railways Act.
