Shillong, Oct 06: Responding to Prime Minister Shri Narendra modi’s transformational initiative of Swachh Bharat 2.0 and AMRUT 2.0, R&D Establishment of Border Roads organization, Shillong began the implementation of PM’s vision by initiating cleanliness drive at the Dawn of 02 Oct 2021 that will continue till the end of October.
As the initial phase of the event, Cleanliness drive was flagged off by Mr. Sunil Kumar Choubey, Officiating Chief Engineer by invoking Mahatma Gandhi’s quote that to make our surroundings clean, we have to take the bucket and broom in our hands.
Inspired by Chief Engineer, the team consisting of officers, supervisors and employees took on the task of cleaning clogged drainages, wild grasses and garbage littered around the general area. The families staying inside the campus too participated in the drive.
Further, the team from the establishment moved to the surrounding civil areas clearing huge amount of garbage and collecting non renewable waste including polythene , plastic etc. Local population was motivated and educated to keep their surroundings clean and litter free with emphasis on health, hygiene and sanitation.
