Maligaon, April 06: Continuing the fight against transportation of contraband/smuggled goods in trains and stations, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway has recovered contraband goods worth more than Rs 75 Lakhsduring the month of March, 2025.
RPF also apprehended 18 persons for alleged involvement in transportation of contraband/smuggled goods during this period. Moreover, RPF of N. F. Railway is regularly conducting drives to control the menace of touts.
In recently conducted checks and drives over the zone during the month of March, 2025, RPF apprehended7 touts and recovered 32railway tickets worth above Rs. 99,000from them.
In a recent incident on 24th March, 2025 RPF of Dimapurconducted a routine checking at Dimapur railway station. During the checkingRPF apprehended one person and recovered 10.85 grams of Brown sugar worth Rs. 2.17 lakhs (approx).Later, the apprehended person along with the recovered Brown Sugar was handed over to OC, GRP and Dimapurfor necessary legal action.
Moreover, in an incident on 19th March, 2025, RPF, CPDS and CIB team of New Jalpaiguri jointly conducted a raid & search operationat PRS Kanki. During the raid, the team recovered06 PRS Tickets worth around Rs. 24,365/- and apprehended one tout in this connection. A case was registered under section 143 of the Railways Act for further course of action.
It may be mentioned here that RPF of N. F. Railway are constantly on vigil towards activities related to smuggling and transportation of contraband items at railway stations &trainsand unauthorized & illegal procurement of railway tickets.
