Sanitation Department of NEIGRIHMS had organized HYGEIA 2024 focused on cleanliness

Shillong, April 07: The Sanitation Department of the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) organized HYGEIA 2024, the Swachhta Conferencerecently.

The conference focused on promoting cleanliness and hygiene practices and saw participation from various hospitals in and around Shillong, including CHCs, PHCs, and the Shillong Municipal Board.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. A. Santa Singh, Director In-charge and Dean, NEIGRIHMS along with Prof. C. Daniala, Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS and Addl. Prof. V. K. Jagtap, DMS & Additional Professor, Dept. of Radiotherapy, NEIGRIHMS. The day featured various competitions, resource talks, interactive sessions, and a prize distribution ceremony.

HYGEIA 2024 is part of the SwachhtaPakhwada initiative launched by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. NEIGRIHMS is the leading institute in the NE for rolling out various activities and programs related to cleanliness, encompassing both communities and healthcare facilities. This nationwide program is held annually from April 1st to April 15th.

Prof. C. Daniala, Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS said that”we are committed to promoting cleanliness and hygiene practices not only within NEIGRIHMS but also throughout the community. HYGEIA 2024 is a significant step towards achieving this goal.”

Prof. A. Santa Singh, Director In-charge and Dean, NEIGRIHMS  said that “SwachhtaPakhwada is a crucial initiative that emphasizes the importance of cleanliness in healthcare settings and communities. NEIGRIHMS is proud to be a leader in this program.”
