Ampati, May 6: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills has informed that the ongoing Tuberculosis (TB) and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Drive under the 100 Days TB Campaign and NCD Screening Programme will continue across government departments and offices in the district till June 2026.
The drive, being implemented by the District Health Department in coordination with various departments, includes screening for Tuberculosis, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer to enable early detection and timely treatment.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the initiative is aimed at promoting preventive healthcare and reducing the overall disease burden through early diagnosis. Early detection of TB and NCDs is crucial for improving treatment outcomes and preventing complications.
Officials informed that departments yet to be covered will be taken up in a phased manner in the coming weeks. All Heads of Departments have been requested to ensure full attendance of officers and staff on scheduled dates and extend necessary support to the health teams.
The District Administration has urged all employees to actively participate in the screening drive and take advantage of the facility for maintaining their health.
The administration reiterated its commitment to strengthening public health services and called for collective efforts to achieve better health outcomes and move towards a TB-free district.
