Shillong, Jan 21: Together with the rest of the State, East Jaintia Hills District also observed the 48th anniversary of Statehood Day today at the function held at the premises of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner wherein Shri Kyrmen Shylla, Minister of Social Welfare attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
The programme was also attended by Shri F.M Dopth, Deputy Commissioner of East Jaintia Hills District, Smt. D.M Suja, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri. Hubert Kharbuki, Superintendent of Fisheries, East Jaintia Hills District, Shri. John. S. Tariang, Executive Engineer, PWD Roads, East Jaintia Hills District, Dr. P. Nongtdu, Principal of Jaintia Eastern College among others.
Other Highlights of the day includes Meghalaya Day Run flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner, cultural song by the Officers Club, cultural dance by the students of Jaintia Eastern College and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Rymbai.
