Shillong, April 15: Swachhta Pakhwada concluded in NEIGRIHMS, Martin Luther Christian University got first prize in skit play; Swachhta Pakhwada, which started on 1st April 2019 with inaugural function in OPD foyer, NEIGRIHMS concluded today on 15th April 2019 with prize distribution to winners who participated in various competitions during the Pakhwada.
The fifteen days Programme was inaugurated by Director NEIGRIHMS on 1st April who administrated the Swachhta Pledge to the participants and stressed that clean surroundings is each individual’s responsibility. Plantation drive with plantation of 100 saplings was also organised on the same day in association with Mission Green Committee, and the State Government Programme Implementation and Monitoring Committee, Government of Meghalaya.
On 2nd April beautification of lawns and weeding out of obsolete equipments and files was taken up by various departments of NEIGRIHMS. On 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th and 15th April 2019, health education was imparted to patients and attendants by staff of NEIGRIHMS during OPD hours. Health talk on menstrual hygiene and disposal of sanitary napkins were organised in Lady Keane College, Loreto Convent and Seng Khasi Higher Secondary School by NEIGRIHMS health experts during the Swachhta Pakhwada.
On 5th April, a Swachhta conference, “Hygeia 2019” was held in NEIGRIHMS auditorium wherein Sanitation staff of various institutions participated with a great enthusiasm. Skit play competition and essay competition were also organised during the event. On the 8th April, a cleaning drive was undertaken by the staff and students of NEIGRIHMS and the locals of Pynthorumkhrah.
The cleaning drive was conducted to raise awareness in the community regarding cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene. The drive was led by the Medical Superintendent, NEIGRIHMS in association with the Dorbar Shnong.
Today on the concluding day of the Swachhta Pakhwada, Medical Superintendent NEIGRIHMS while thanking all the participants expressed his satisfaction over successfully conveying the message of importance of cleanliness to the society by means of conference, health talks, skit play, poster competition etc. The prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners on the occasion.
The 1st prize in the skit competition was won by students of Social Work Department, Martin Luther Christian University. In hospital category the first prize was won by Sanitation department of NEIGRIHMS. In poster display competition, 1st prize was won by Barbie Kalita of Lady Keane College and Robinstar Ryntathiang. In essay writing competition, 1st prize was won by Ophelia Mary Kharmujai and Melakerbha Rumsong.
