New Delhi, April 08: The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has said that the art work at display in National Museum offers a great opportunity for history enthusiasts, art lovers and helps in understanding the past and glory of India. He further said that the exhibition showcased the exquisite craftsmanship of Indian artisans. The collection presents the finest examples of jewellery making as it evolved over a period of time, he added.
He was interacting with the officials of National Museum on his visit to the special exhibition titled “Jewels of India: The Nizam’s Jewellery Collection” at the National Museum, here today, and seen one of largest and richest collection of Jewels of Nizams. The spouse of the Vice President, Smt. Usha Naidu also accompanied him.
Shri Naidu said that he was happy to know that the National Museum holds approximately 2,00,000 objects of a diverse nature, both Indian as well as foreign, and the collection covers very ancient artifacts that reflect Indian cultural heritage. He appreciated the National Museum and the Reserve Bank of India for preserving this rare collection comprising 173 precious jewels and jewellery items of impeccable workmanship.
He also appreciated the Director General, National Museum, Dr. B.R. Mani and the Curators, Ministry of Culture, Government of India for organizing this special exhibition.
