Shillong, July 22: The BSF and BGB while guarding the International border are also setting up an unprecedented example of deep friendship between them and acting as an ambassador of their respective countries.
While on western border, BSF faces an adversary in Pak army and Pak rangers, on Eastern Border, BSF and BGB are proving to be strong allies in fighting smuggling and other trans-border crimes.
The trust, understanding and coordination between both the Border guarding forces is unparalleled and touching new heights. In present scenario of Covid-19 and floods in the Border areas, both the forces are tackling smuggling and other trans-border crimes with excellent coordination and trust among them.
There is a smooth exchange of information between the forces upon which prompt action is being taken. Both the forces are carrying out simultaneous coordinated patrols on sensitive patches to curb the smuggling and to create a sense of security among the border population.
The forces are also prompt in responding to each other’s call. In the year 2020 an INSAS rifle and a magazine was snatched away by Bangladesh miscreants after a surprise attack on BSF patrol of BOP Rongtilla, in a very short span of time same was recovered upon approaching BGB by BSF.
In another such instance, during Amphan cyclone a BSF speed boat with 6 troops on board swept away towards Bangladesh into the strong currents of the river Dova. On the call of BSF, a prompt action was taken by BGB, these troops were rescued and later returned safely.
Mr. U K Nayal, DIG PRO of BSF Meghalaya Frontier told, India and Bangladesh share a common history and a very strong relationship, the same is reflected on the Border guarding forces of both the country also.
The BSF remains in constant touch with BGB and they share information regarding smuggling and other criminal activities with each other on a regular basis. He said that a coordinated and synergized effort towards the management of the Border is the need of the hour and both the forces are committed towards maintaining peace and tranquility in the Bordering areas.
